[WIP] Project Alaska

I know CanaDream might have Alaska, but I'd rather make my own map mod for Alaska simply because I want it to run alone with the base game

Project Alaska is a map mod project I want to make, and i'm starting to plan out a it of what the mod will look like.

I have an official website for it http://projectalaska.cf/
I'm planning for it to have the same scale of the base game but a bit bigger, as I wanna fit in some points of interest.

I'd like to know what your thoughts are on this.

Good luck with your project! CanaDream might add Alaska, but I think that map lacks the base game quality.

Plainoldbread, I think Alaska might be big enough, to have the same scale as ATS base maps.
And still include points of interest.

Example road network:
Part 1 and part 2.
I have not taken shortest distance, only tried to get roads in.

Interesting project. I, too, look forward to seeing the first shots!

Is the map for ATS or ETS2? This is an ETS2 subforum (mainly) and at least one post on your site says ETS2, whereas ATS would be the logical basis for Alaska and at least the tagline says ATS.

AFAIK CanaDream DOESN'T have Alaska in it. :!:
Anyway, good luck with the project. i'm looking forward to add it in ATS. alongside CanaDream, C2C and VivaMexico expansions. ;)

In case you didn't knew it already, here are the roads captured by Google Street View for Alaska.

You're going to have to get very good at landscaping because that happens to be something Alaska has a lot of... in very large swathes. Seriously, you don't realize how HUGE Alaska is until you really get into it. That being said, best of luck. To be perfectly honest, I probably wouldn't mind some fantasy hidden roads to the remote settlements (like Nome and such)

Fantasy hidden roads?
Maybe not so much fantasy.
Let's start with one real road, in the wilderness:
Red Dog Mine Road.

And then we will check on a network of roads, most closed during winter:
Nome, Alaska.
Nome-Council Highway 72 miles, Nome-Taylor Higway 85 miles, Bob Blodgett Nome-Teller Memorial Highway 72 miles and some other roads.

Nome-Taylor Highway Scenic Drive
Kougarok Road (Nome–Taylor Highway)

Hmm Kobra2112, did you know about these roads? Or is this a nice surprise?

Next is, well.. Not a road all the way, but there is something, most of the way?
Winter Trail
Sorry, not marked roads, but there is some.

Well hey if you want to do western Alaska as a singular kinda isolated part of the map that's pretty cool :) Will be interesting to see how/if you link it to the majority of the rest of the state(and by consequence the remainder of the road network in America.
