For the newer versions does "\ Euro Truck Simulator 2 \ base" change to "\ Euro Truck Simulator 2 \ base_map" ?

That change was before 1.40. It might have been in 1.38, or earlier.
Now in 1.40Beta, there seems to be map sectors saved to C:\Users\*******\Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\mod\user_map\map
