I GOT MY FIRST CAR!!!!!!!

If you know me (which none of you really do), then you'll know just how crazy I am about cars. I like cars so much that my shop teacher, who bought his first car when he was 12 and has designed and built a car from scratch by himself, said I like cars more than him. Because of this, I think it goes without saying that actually owning a car is a pretty big deal to me. AND NOW I DO!!!

It's a 1991 Volkswagen Fox with 300,000km, four-speed transmission, 1.8L four-cylinder engine making a whopping 81hp, no power steering, no power brakes, no ABS or TCS, no air conditioning, and what I think to be an incredibly generous four gauges, one of which is an analog clock and none of which is a rev counter.

PS: The weird shirtless guy reflected in the window is the previous owner, not me.

Quite surprising you've found a Jetta (that's what they're really called) in such good condition with regard to rust. And it's got the optional mudflaps!!

Anyway, enjoy, a first car is always special. Mine was a basic, 1100cc MkI Golf (Rabbit to you) which self-destructed after about 186000km (got it at 84000km). Loved that car.

The Fox and Jetta are two different cars. We have them both here in Canada, though Jettas are way more common since the Fox was only sold for a few years in the late '80s and early '90s. They were only sold in North and South America which is probably why you don't recognise it.

That's probably why it looks exactly like a late 70's / early 80's European Jetta. Tooling and production line moved to Brazil or Mexico and flogged to the North American market under a different name. Typical. That's part of the reason why you found a car in reasonable nick, it's at least 10 years younger than I thought it was.

Anyhow, doesn't matter, a first car is always special, like I said: enjoy.

It looks like the European Jetta but it isn't the Jetta, to be precise it's a Volkwagen Gol in the Fox version, no not the Golf but Gol. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_Gol. We as Europeans only know the Fox as a little car from the 2000's http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_Fox.

The car in the OT looks pretty clean and well preserved for it's age :)

Like I said, old Jetta production line moved to Brazil and the cars it stamped out rebranded.

Same reason a few years ago you could buy Mini Metro's from India under a different name... can't remember what they were called.

Same with the VW Beetle in Mexico... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen ... ici.C3.B3n

Or the Morris Oxford, more famously produced as the Hindustan Ambassador in India until 2014... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hindustan_Ambassador

Thanks for all the compliments :D It is in really good shape for a $650 (500 €) car though the driver's door has some rust spots.
