SCS Update Frequency

This might sound like a stupid question (it probably is) but does anyone know why SCS updates their game so frequently when they know full well that it's going to throw a spanner in the works for mod creators every time?

I get that they're making small corrections and improving things over time but I just find it frustrating that every time I reinstall this game I have to spend so long trying to work out mod versions and dependencies, and I presume that the vast majority of players that have spent money on all their DLC packs have also got mods installed. I have a bit of a conspiracy theory that they do this in order to slow down mod teams so that their own official DLCs don't end up being woefully inadequate compared with the work put out by the community. Promod and other teams work seems to be at least on par with the developers so just honestly suspect it's a bit of a balancing act with regards to keeping modding healthy but not too healthy that it destroy's their own work.

It will be interesting to see how the Russian modules goes and if it's better than the SR/Rusmap combos.

That would be the same as for every other part of any other mod which gets 'overwritten' by an SCS DLC.

It either:
  • Merges the new DLC with the mod
  • Replaces the DLC in favor of the mod
  • Ends their development and gets replaced by the DLC.
