Map Route Tracker Mod?

Ok guys, my friends and I like to race from one city to another without using the map. First one at the destination wins. After that we like to Screenshare our maps and show the others which stupid ways we took. But a lot of the time we cant exactly figure out where we went.
Is there any mod that works like this: You click a button saying "start route tracking". After that there is a colored line (not yellow obv) tracking your Route. Thats basically it. Then there is maybe a button like "End Route" or something and then the line disappears. It would be best if there also are no yellow lines visible when tracking a route.
Is there any mod that works like this or is it relatively easy to make such a mod as a total beginner??
