Don't judge Windows 8.1 based on other people's opinions or your first look. You have to use it for a while and you'll notice significant performance improvements

I've used it for several hours and it's plain rubbish. Worse than Windows Vista...

I disagree... I really love my Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 will be the best OS ever made by Microsoft!

If they are really gonna implement yearly payments for the OS, I don't agree..
However, I like some features there.

And my opinion to Windows 7 vs Windows 8 discussion.
I use both, because I use two computers. I can't say that one is definitely better than another. For working with different files, managing them etc, I prefer 8. But imo 7 is still better for playing games and things like that.

You obviously didn't watch the livestream; they said within the first year of the release of Win 10 you'll be able to upgrade to Windows 10 for free if you own Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 and you'll get lifetime upgrades. After this period is over they're going to start charging for those who didn't upgrade within the specified period or are buying a new OS. However, this offer is only vaild if you have a genuine Windows

And btw, you should see the benchmarks of games running on Windows 7 or Windows 8 and Win 8 clearly wins by having a bit more FPS in games and being more resource friendly with CPU and RAM
