[1.95+1.18] Tires/Suspension/Road

Hi. I'm not sure if this is a new feature of the 1.18 update or the 1.95 ProMod.

1> DAF XF Euro 6 truck.
2> The tires and/or suspension have been updated.
3> The road surface bump factor has been adjusted.

The problem i have is one of stability in turns and corners. On motorway ramps or exits where there are the usual tight turns radii, my truck behaves as if it's going over a ploughed field (literally). It's as if the tires turn into ellipsoidal shapes and bounce round the turn. As a consquence i find i understeer a lot.

The usual posted 40Kph speed limit does not apply as i risk losing the truck even at 35Kph -typically my speed is approx <=25Kph, even then it's touch and go whether i bounce off into the armco.

The 'normal' road surface is very smooth but entrance/exits off the motorways are very bumpy. Before the 1.18 update i could drive at 40Kph with the truck and cargo remaining quite steady, but now it's quite difficult.

As i said i don't know whether its a new SCS or ProMods terrain adjustment, or the physics of the truck as a result of the 1.18 update. I would appreciate your thoughts on this.

Regards

Just a small update. The same occurs with the MAN TGX XXL. I reset all my steering wheel settings to default in case it was that, but the problem still exists.

Do you have mods that overwrites the default truck physics?

It could be a conflict with that mod.

Hi. I only have the default V1.18+Promods 1.95. What i have found is that instead of my steering sensitivity being set at approx 2 (on a scale of 1 to 10 from left to right), i need to use it at 10. I didn't notice before but there is a huge lag when moving the steering wheel fast when the truck is at rest. This does help a lot but the underlying instability when tight cornering still remains.

Also the terrain feedback seems to have moved to the collision parameter. Going over the joints in the roads -like at motorway junctions, speed bumps etc.. Feels like the truck is bottoming out. Reducing the collision parameter to approx 2 -from default 5- (again from a scale of 1 to 10), helps a lot.

I reloaded both V1.16 and a V1.17 backup games to test and the problem doesn't exist. As there is a marked difference between old and new versions i know it's not my system. It's really strange.

I use a Logitech D.F.P (900 degree).

Regards

{EDIT] - Not 360 degree wheel, changed to 900 degree

Almost sorted. I read some info elsewhere and swapped out my truck for a 4x2 configuration, now the problem has largely dissapeared.

Seems to be a chassis problem.

It seems that changes to the game upsets some player's controls (truck physics). I use a Logitech Wingman Formula Force GP, and have noticed little difference between ETS2 patches. But yes, you may need to tweak some settings ;) .
