Doesn't seems like Promods 1.97 works with ETS 2 1.21 beta

Correct; it doesn't work with the beta, so we need to make a compatibility update yet again...

Promods worked for a few drives w/beta, now crashes every time I start of game. If I remove Promods game works. Help?

1.97 and 1.21 do not go together, downgrade to 1.20 or wait for ProMods 1.98.

for ETS2 1.21 we will have Promods 1.98
when ETS2 1.22 comes we will have Promods 1.99

so when the ETS2 1.23 comes, and Promods 2.0 is not ready yet there is no more version numbers unless it will be Promods 1.910

If that was to occur we will increase the version number with letters rather than numbers most likely

I thought you guys were gonna skip to 2.0 because of the big map update like how Windows skipped from 8.1 to 10. Guess I was wrong.

I assume ProMods 1.98 will be a compatibility update for game version 1.21. Not sure what ProMods 1.99 will include.

That would probably br version 1.100, not 1.910.

Or use sub-sub-version numbering:

v1.99.1
