Is the free download of the mod slowed down on purpose?

I'm getting some horrible speeds, even though my internet is pretty good. That coupled with the limit of 3 downloads makes it way too slow. If this is true, then it's kind of a dick move. I get it; you need the money and I can understand why you'd break the mod into parts and put a download limit, but slowing down the downloads on purpose is just unfair in my opinion.
We had to move the files on our local server because Zippyshare couldn't host them anymore. It is a bit slower, but still at a reasonable speed. Whatever holds it, must be a temporary issue or a problem on your end.

Ah, alright then. That's understandable, thanks for the reply.ETS2-User wrote:We had to move the files on our local server because Zippyshare couldn't host them anymore. It is a bit slower, but still at a reasonable speed. Whatever holds it, must be a temporary issue or a problem on your end.

There is also the option for a mere $1 (more to cover the bandwidth costs) of a fast download. I've got Gigabit fibre and was able to reach about 70MB/s on the paid download but yes we've had to limit the free download server(s) out of respect for both our server hosts and since it is free - if we ditched the bandwidth cap we'd soon create a monster and likely make our hosts pretty unhappy with us.
The connection limit is there due to the abuse of multi-connection downloads - we'd need much bigger servers if we were to ever drop that. There has been 10,000's of downloads through the free download links so as-long as people can grab the files without the servers catching fire or our providers getting upset then we're happy that you got the mod freely.
So, not a dick move, there is a reason for everything even if it doesn't seem fair.

Just saw that as downloading the new version....but a bit slower is a light understatement....
Paid for the promods link otherwise that would take me at least the whole day to download..instead of the 5-10 Minutes...
And just out of interest....why couldn't zippyshare host that anymore?

Don't mind waiting for such a masterpiece, though I'd prefer a faster stream, yes. Patience is rewarded.
